National Tournaments, 2021 and 2022

Floorball Australia Ltd National Tournament update

With the COVID challenges still dictating some of our activities, the FAL Board met in January to discuss what the Floorball calender looks like for 2021. We have agreed that asking States/ Clubs to hold the AFO and JAFO national tournaments is far too difficult in the current environment so therefore, neither tournament will be held in 2021.

We did not make this decision lightly but the reality of the costs involved in holding the tournament, the outlay costs to attend and finally having the risk of borders closing without notice due to COVID, overwhelming made it the right choice. Whilst the FAL board realise that this is extremely disappointing, there are too many factors out of our control.

On a positive note, we can announce that Bondi FC will hold the 2022 AFO and Peninsula will host the JAFO 2022 Tournaments.

The focus for the 2021 Floorball calender year from the FAL Board will be to work proactively with all States bodies to get Floorball going again with a mantra to "Grow Floorball Local". We hope that each State will hold at least one club based tournament during 2021 and focus on growing the membership base in both Juniors and Seniors.

We are extremely positive about the opportunities made available to us and look forward to a strong year of Floorball.
