Australian Women have best Result at WFC in Switzerland!

Published Wed 18 Dec 2019

On behalf of Floorball Australia, we would like to congratulate the the Australian Women's Floorball team, who had a magnificent tournament at the 2019 World Floorball Championship in Switzerland.

Brilliantly lead by Coach Neil Anders and Captain Tara Meyer, the team finished 11th overall.

A two week training camp in Finland brought the team together to create a cohesive, hard working team that played for each other. After finishing 2nd in their group, following strong wins over the USA and Thailand, they progressed out of their pool to face the highly ranked Poland team.

After a tough loss to Poland and a subsequent loss to Norway, their final placement game was against an old foe in Singapore. A close loss to Singapore in the group games, saw the Aussie women keen to make amends and finish the tournament on a high.

They did not disappoint with a magnificent 3-1 win.

Congratulations to the Coaching staff and all players - You represented Australian Floorball with Pride and Passion !!

A special congratulations to retiring players Leith "Tomma" Woods and Tara Meyer!!! Their tireless and professional contribution to Australian Floorball both on and off the field  is very much appreciated and has created a strong platform for the future of Women's Floorball in Australia - Thank you!!

The future of Women's Floorball is strong
